Port of Wilmington Truck Access

Terminal Overview

The Port of Wilmington is a full-service deep-water port located at 1 Hausel Road, Wilmington, DE 19801. Operated by Enstructure, the port handles containerized cargo, fresh fruit (the largest banana port on the East Coast), automobiles, bulk/breakbulk, and refrigerated goods.

Services: Stevedoring, direct discharge, cold storage (100,000+ sq ft), warehousing, trucking coordination, and logistics.

Approach Directions

From I-95 South (Philadelphia Area)

1. Take I-95 South toward Wilmington
2. Exit onto I-495 South (Wilmington bypass)
3. Take Exit 2: Terminal Avenue / Port of Wilmington
4. Follow Terminal Avenue to the port gate

From I-95 North (Maryland)

1. Take I-95 North through Delaware
2. Exit onto I-495 North (right lanes — do not miss this exit)
3. Take Exit 2: Terminal Avenue / Port of Wilmington
4. Follow Terminal Avenue to the port gate

From the NJ Turnpike

1. Cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge (toll collected NJ-to-DE)
2. Take the first exit right after the bridge: Route 9A North
3. At the 5th traffic light, turn right onto Terminal Avenue
4. Terminal Avenue dead-ends at the port gate

Gate Access

RFID or appointment may be required depending on terminal operations. Contact Enstructure (port operator) at (302) 472-5400 before your first visit to confirm access requirements.

TWIC card is required for unescorted access to secure areas of the port.

Connecting Ports

:::tip The approach from the NJ Turnpike via the Delaware Memorial Bridge requires taking the first exit after the bridge. If you miss it, you will end up on I-95 South toward Maryland and must backtrack. Watch for the 9A North exit immediately after the bridge toll plaza. :::
